Day 12 – Victorian Beauties in Sanford, FL

Gorgeous Victorian Homes in Sanford's Historic District

Gorgeous Victorian Homes in Sanford

This will not be the only post dedicated to our Victorian Beauties in Sanford. You can spend a good couple of hours just strolling around the historic district of Sanford, FL and breathing in the history it brings with it. Travel back in time and enjoy walking in the shade of huge trees. You will be amazed what is hiding just behind First Street. Take your camera with you and take some snap shots just like me. I can guarantee you will find a lot of beautiful scenes to shoot.

Even better: If you live close to Sanford downtown, get out your bike and ride it around this area. Especially now that it has “cooled down” in Central Florida it’s a great time to plan for a day like this.

Plants by the Pool Close Up

After a long week on conferences and seminars I deserved a morning off and spent some time by the pool. Looking around I took some close up shots of plants that surround our pool. Like the colors, but still lots to learn. Long live lazy Sunday mornings in Sanford :)

Day 10 – Blog Orlando

September 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

What a great conference! I attended Blog Orlando at Rollins College today and it was wonderful! So many interesting people and lots of new information on blogging and social media in general. It proved one more time how important blogging has become not only for big companies but also for the community. I loved the presentation of Southwest Airlines and checked out their blog right away. It really is sticky :) Great job!

Got some good ideas and lots of inspiration from the event! Blogging really requires passion and commitment; I am up for it!

This shot was taken in the Bush Auditorium where the opening and end discussions took place. Altogether a great success, thank you to the organizers and sponsors, I will be there again next year!

Day 9 – Traffic

September 27, 2008 · 2 Comments

Yes, we have traffic too! And today was probably the worst traffic I have ever been on… I was on my way to a seminar to be held in the Disney area. It took me 1 hour to get from Sanford to Maitland alone! I’m glad I don’t have to deal with this every day…So while behind the wheel I figured, why not take my daily picture right now? Not the best shot, but at least something, thanks to my phone :)

View from my Garage

View from my Garage

Maybe not so interesting, but just a normal day in one of Sanford’s communities and this is the view from my garage/driveway. Sunny as most days in Central Florida. Well, and now that it is already the end of September we are reaching a cooler time – if 85 is cool :) I have to admit it’s a little more pleasant, but I still prefer the HOT weather and even humidity! That’s why I love Florida even MORE!!

Day 7 – Meisch Building in Historic Sanford

Meisch Building in Historic Sanford

Meisch Building in Historic Sanford

Walking down First Street here’s another one of Sanford’s beautiful historic buildings. Even though the letters say 1922, the building was actually built in 1923. With the green ornaments in the brick it has a little bit of a Spanish touch to it. But just a little bit.

Here is some information I found online:

Designed by W.B. Talley and constructed by R.J. Gillespie for the Sanford Investment Co., John Meisch, President. The facade has not been significantly altered since construction. The building is built of reinforced concrete faced with tapestry brick, Arnold ornamental stone, and stucco. The windows are copper trimmed with a Vermont marble base. Red and white decorative terracotta mission tile is on the facade parapet.

This is a must visit store in downtown Sanford. Located right next to the German restaurant on Sanford’s First Street, it’s the perfect place for a lazy Sunday (the store is open 7 days a week!), to just browse through some books, posters or VHS tapes. You will be amazed at what you can discover in this quaint little store!

You will find a huge variety of used books just about anything, be it a novel, text book or comic book, but also old fashioned vinyl records, CDs, DVDs or even VHS. Check it out soon!

Tree Lined Avenue in Historic Sanford, FL

This is an amazing view of a tree lined avenue in Sanford, FL. It really shows is how beautiful the residential district of old Sanford , FL is. Lots of beautiful huge trees, telling a story of their own… The residential historic distric of Sanford is unique in Central Florida. Romantic Vicorian houses dating back as far as the early 1900s. Every year around Christmas time there is a tour of some of the most beautiful homes in Historic Sanford. I will post more about this topic in another post. And there will definitely be more pictures of Victorian homes, I promise ;o)
